Petal pillows anyone?

I found these wonderful Petal Pillows today at Grandin Road:
These pillows remind me of the Midwest Mod Zinnia Pillow pattern by Amy Butler Design.

Patchwork seems to be everywhere….

Did you see the January issue of the Martha Stewart magazine? There was an article on using patchwprl for various items. The silk pillows were lovely. They used a very simple pattern called the log cabin. I was inspired and should have something made in the next month.

Here’s an interesting Patchwork Linen Pillow from Ballard Designs:

Hope you're inspired to try making a patchwork pillow. A little patchwork + a little embroidery + a little embroidery = a fantastic pillow.

More florals....

While looking around today for ideas, I found these great Vintage Floral Pillow Covers @ The Pattern Barn:

Pillows are a great way to change the look of your decor for every season or just for the fun of it. Of course, this gives me other ideas. How about making a nice throw with a floral print on one side and minky on the other side? That would be pure luxury. A good size would be about 45" x 60".

Just a reminder that many floral fabrics on sale right now at the eBay store.

This shirt is made from glossy stretch satin which is silk/spandex. Details are button front, spread collar, half-sleeve with cuff, and princess seams for a slim fit. Made in Italy. Price tag: $415.00.

Not interested in spending that much on a top? How about using Stephanie's Blouse a Silhouettes pattern by Peggy Sagers?

New Project of the Week

This week's Project of the Week is the Venti Tote Bag pattern by Purse Strings:

This is a nice big tote with the size being approximately 20" tall by 23" wide. I have created a kit with the summer season in mind - going to the pool, the beach, etc. The fabric selection are below:

The Venti Tote bag kit comes with 1 3/4 yards each of the top to fabrics, 3/4 yard of the bottom fabric, 2 3/4 yards of Peltex 72F, and the Venti Tote Bag pattern by Purse Strings. Remember when purchasing a project of the week in the kit form, the pattern is 25% off but only during the week it's the project of the week.

As always, if you want to create your own kit, let me know. All you need to do is pick the fabrics and I will recalculate the price.

Remember this tote bag will make a great bag for knitting projects, quilting projects, or stashing the kids' toys.

Inspiration....

Today's inspiration is a Valentino Large Petale Tote:

Lovely, isn't it? Now for the details. This bag is made with a rubberized cotton fabric (what's that??) with leather straps, gold hardware, a magnetic snap, and metal feet. The strap has a 9" drop. Inside there is a zip pocket, a cell pocket, and an open pocket. It has a nylon lining. Size: 12" h x 15 3/4" w x 7 1/4" d. Price tag: $1795.00.

Here's a pattern that has a similar flower:

It's the Kimi Rose tote pattern by Purse Strings. Inside find two large pockets for all those "girl" items and a magnetic snap closure. Size: 13' high x 17" wide x 6" deep. It is very easy to add a zip pocket, leather straps (I can order just about any color and length), and feet. Even if you made this out of a silk dupioni, you should be able to create this for under $100.00.

Hope you're inspired to recreate a designer look.

It's a New Year!

Happy New Year!

I want to Thank all of my customers. I had a great year last year and hope to have the same this year.

I've decided that I want new decorative items for the holidays and I'm going to attempt to work on this through out the year so that I won't be trying to do everything all at once and not get anything done. So, my first project for the year will be new tablecloths. I have some very traditional fabrics that are tablecloth width and I want to make two new tablecloths.

This year I'm going to be offering projects throughout the year. The first project(s) will be tablecloths and toweling. There will be two Christmas fabrics for clothes and two spring/summer fabrics for tablecloths along with the matching toweling for the spring/summer fabrics. There is a new category in the store called "Project of the Week". The week's project fabrics will be mark downed 10%.
