Christmas Tree Mug Rug kit

These are the cutest little mug rugs for the holidays:

This is the Christmas Tree Mug Rug kit.  It come with pre-fused & pre-cut applique pieces, background fabric, backing fabric, fabric strip for binding, buttons.  All you need to add is fusible batting, embroidery thread, and sewing thread.

This would be a great take along project once the appliques are fused into place.  It would also make a nice gift.

Pop-Up Fun....

Have you seen the Fat Quarter Pop-Up?  It is a very cute idea.

This is a fun little container that pops.  The specially forms wire springs into shape every time.  All you need to create is the pattern kit, light weight fusible interfacing, a fat quarter, and a few notions.  Finished size:  5 1/2" diameter and 6" tall.  This is not intended for children under the age of 12.

Now that you've purchased the pattern and realized what fun it is to make, here is the Small Pop-Up refill:

This would make cute little gifts.

Skirt, Skirts, Skirts….

I love wearing skirts and I have found some interesting skirts for you today.  Leather and suede are in abundance.

Isn’t this a great looking skirt?  This is the Turner Zip-Front Suede Skirt from Layette 148 New York.  It is a exposed zip-front skirt with architectural patchwork and topstitching, an a-line silhouette, and side-entry pockets in goat skin.  Price tag:  $798.00.

Michael’s skirt by Silhouette Patterns is similar.  You would need to add the a-line silhouette.

This is the Mylon Suede skirt from Joie.    This is a little longer skirt with an a-line silhouette and concealed  button front in goatskin.  Price tag:  $598.00

This is the Emaline Skirt pattern from Serendipity Studio. This skips the concealed button front but gives you three lengths and three styles.

I wonder how the Nu-Suede from Kaufmans or the Cuddle Suede from Shannon would make up in either of these patterns.  Both fabrics are machine washable which is easier care than the leather. If anyone is interested in a group purchase, let me know.

Hope your inspired to create something beautiful.

Happy Sewing!

Fall Inspiration...

I've started looking at the Fall 2015 Folklorica Trend and found this fantastic trench:

This is the Burberry Prorsum trench coat and you really should head over to Neiman Marcus and check out the details.  This coat is suede and only retails for $7,500.00.  Yes, this is one of those items that you could duplicate if you chose.  Here's the back detail:

What do you think of the fringe?  I suppose that the fringe is the big trend item.  I'm not sure how I feel about the fringe for myself but it is certainly a fun detail.  This looks like a fairly classic trench coat and the only one I can think of that is an exact duplicate of the Burberry trench (with cup sizing added of course) is the Barbara's Trench by Silhouette Patterns:

The pattern maker stated that she actually duplicated a Burberry Trench for this pattern.  What about the fringe?  Well, Peggy at Silhouette Patterns has done a couple of videos this summer on how to add the fringe.  Hope on over to the Silhouette Patterns youtube channel and check out it out.

Hope you inspired to make something beautiful for yourself.

Inspiration....

It's time to look forward to fall fashions and I found this lovely coat:

This is the Gucci Leather Single-breasted Coat.  I just love it!  However, I don't love the price which is $5,600.00.  I wonder how many skins it would take to recreate this lovely coat.  I suppose you don't really need to use skins a faux leather of some type would probably be just fine.  Here's a pattern that would give a similar look:

This is the Dakota Duster by Serendipity Studio.  It would give a similar look to the inspiration coat and faux suede is listed as one of the fabrics.

Let's move on the jacket under the coat:

Doesn't this look like a classic blazer pattern?  I don't think that it is really a classic jacket but it certainly looks nice.  This is the Gucci Kaleidoscope Light Wool Single-Breasted Blazer.  Price tag:  $1750.00.  Here's a similar jacket:

This is Kwik Sew 3715.  This is a classic lined blazer pattern.  The difference I see between the inspiration photo and the Kwik Sew pattern is the lapel is slightly different and the pockets are lower.  Let's move to the pants:

This is the Gucci Kaleidoscope Wool 1960s skinny pant.  These pants have a 7" leg opening.  Price tag:  $795.00.   Here's a pattern that would give you a similar look:

This is the Clover slim pant pattern by Colette.

Hope you're inspired to make something wonderful for fall.

Twist N Turn....

Have you seen the new Twist N Turn ruler?  Here's a quick peek:

This is the Twist N Turn Ruler by Cindy McCracken Designs.  It is designed to work with 1" to 8 1/2" strips.  A great way to use up pre-cut strips in your stash.  Here's a few patterns that use this particular ruler:

This fun little pattern is the Fractured Rainbow quilt pattern by Cindy McCracken Designs.  The quilt size is 64" x 68".

This is the Under the Sea quilt pattern by Cindy McCracken Designs.  Size is 77" x 85".  Isn't this a wonderful way to use the batiks?

How about this fun little Baby Twist quilt?  The quilt size is 57" x 57".  I want to make this cute little almost a pin wheel quilt.  Maybe it's time for me to start a stash of baby quilts for the future.

Hope you inspired to create something wonderful.
